Wide roads, governmental buildings, entertainment parks, roadsides\u2019 parks and Herat Airport was built\u00a0 in the late\u00a0 1950s and the Herat-Kandahar-Kabul Highway constructed in the 1960s\u00a0 and played an important role for trade and tourism of this city.<\/p>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr;\">During President Mohammad Dawood Khan\u00b4s reign, the Herat City Master Plan considerably expanded and was supposed to be completed in 20 years. But the Soviet Red Army invasion and civil wars delayed the plan.<\/p>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr;\">In 1992, following the Mujahedin\u2019s victory and repatriation of migrants from abroad, reconstruction started and many city roads were asphalted.
